Client Business Development Manager

Anywhere in Japan

Intralink’s Open Innovation Group (OIG) is now seeking candidates to join its Business Development Team based in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the existing Japan BD team, generating leads, and approaching and winning new Japanese corporate clients. There will be some initial guidance and training, but the candidate will need to be a proactive self-starter who is ultimately comfortable with operating autonomously, yet as an integral part of a global team.

The role reports to OIG’s Head of Business Development who is based in Shinbashi, Tokyo but as remote working is supported, we welcome candidates based anywhere in Japan (provided they are able to easily meet customers), especially from the Kansai or Chubu regions. Whilst the position will primarily focus on business development, there may be some delivery work from time to time, involving market research and analysis, or hands-on new business development support for clients.

The role is ideally suited to an international individual with enterprise sales and business development experience, who is looking to develop their consultative sales skills, work with top Japanese corporations, and who would like to exercise their intellectual curiosity and creativity in order to help develop new approaches and services to best meet client needs.

Senior Business Development Manager – Medtech/Life Sciences (Japan)

Intralink brings cutting-edge technologies to Asia. We are looking for dynamic, proactive Japanese/English bicultural/bilingual go-getters to join our Tokyo Medtech/Life Sciences team. Candidates must be native or near-native English speakers with fluent spoken and written Japanese (JLPT Level 1/N1 or equivalent) and should have worked in Japan for a minimum of five years, in medtech/life sciences related research, business or sales.

  • Evaluating opportunities in Japan in the context of Japanese scientific, operational and clinical needs, and regulatory/legal requirements and identifying routes to market
  • Developing and validating commercial, regulatory, and development strategies and understanding the Japanese healthcare system and positioning products and services
  • Planning, research and analysis using information gathered in Japanese and English from the internet, phone calls and face-to-face meetings
  • Identifying, contacting, meeting, and presenting to Japanese customers/partners and driving business development discussions
  • Managing the whole business development process from initial lead generation to negotiation, closing deals, and account management
  • Interpretation and technical liaison between client and customer Writing regular meeting notes and reports in English for clients
